Washington State is participating with HBO on what is rumored to be a college football version of the network’s popular behind-the-scenes “Hard Knocks” series.

The school confirmed the relationship Saturday via the football team’s Twitter feed.

“This should be fun!” read the tweet. “Coming Soon: The Cougs on HBO.”

HBO camera crews were reportedly in Pullman filming the Cougars’ practices on Friday.

Head coach Mike Leach, whose colorful personality no doubt helped to attract the network, told his players to do their best to pretend the cameras weren’t rolling.

“It’s alright. Just ignore them,” he said, per the team’s YouTube channel. “They want a genuine look and we’re not going to get our work done unless we effectively ignore one another.”

HBO has not made any official announcements about the series. Reports last week indicated that Arizona State, Alabama and Penn State were also involved in the show.

Washington State is coming off an 11-2 season that included a Pac-12 North Division title and a victory against Iowa State in the Alamo Bowl.

Leach, 58, enters his eighth season with the Cougars with a 49-40 record and five bowl appearances.
