Arizona State punter Michael Turk announced Tuesday he will bypass his final two college seasons and enter the NFL draft.

Turk is the nephew of Matt Turk, a three-time NFL Pro Bowler during 17 seasons from 1995-2011.

The younger Turk averaged a school-record 46.0 yards per punt in his lone season with Arizona State. He was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection.

“After a lot of prayer and consideration, I have decided to forgo my remaining NCAA eligibility and declare for the 2020 NFL Draft,” Turk said. “… I am 100% committed to being the best punter possible and I am looking forward to what the future holds.”

Turk is eligible for the draft because he is a third-year sophomore. The Dallas native set a school record at Lafayette in 2017 by averaging 42.7 yards per punt and then transferred to Arizona State and redshirted in 2018.

Turk is also the nephew of Daniel Turk, who was an NFL offensive lineman from 1985-99 and died of cancer in 2000.
