Notre Dame is parting ways with offensive coordinator Chip Long in advance of the Fighting Irish’s Dec. 28 date in the Camping World Bowl against Iowa State.

Long, 36, was Notre Dame’s offensive coordinator and tight ends coach the past three seasons, helping the team to a 32-6 record in that time. The Irish are 10-2 this season and poised to win 11 games for just the eighth time.

Notre Dame has averaged 34.2 points over the past three seasons, and 38.0 points in its 32 victories. It scored just 13.5 points per game in its six defeats.

Long was a Broyles Award finalist last season, which goes to the top assistant coach in the country. The North Alabama alumnus was previously a coach at Memphis, Arizona State and Illinois, and a graduate assistant at Arkansas and Louisville.
